Bunnie was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive type of Ovarian cancer called Carcinosarcoma in March 2021. It is estimated that Carcinosarcomas account for only 1-4% of all Ovarian cancers.

Unfortunately, there is no treatment for her specific type of Ovarian cancer and there is a major need for research and clinical trials. Ovarian Carcinosarcoma is often treated with extensive surgery followed by chemotherapies used in more common types of Ovarian Cancer.

Bunnie fought unrelentingly to battle this cancer, went through an extensive debulking surgery and many rounds of chemotherapy and radiation.  During her journey, she stayed strong, barely complained and fought with a smile. Bunnie was hopeful for a miracle until the end.

About half of women with Ovarian Carcinosarcomas will develop a condition called malignant ascites. The development of malignant ascites carries a poor prognosis, with the median survival reported anywhere between 1 and 4 months.

Bunnie was only 57 years old when she passed on June 3rd, 2022. She left this World way too soon. Bunnie leaves behind her beloved husband Mike, her daughter Shannon, and her nine grandchildren Emma, Ellis, Madeline, Jack, Harper, Emerson, Lilly, Gretta and Timmy.

In honor of Bunnie, we have created this foundation in her name to fund Ovarian Carcinosarcoma research. We are hoping to make any contribution, no matter how small, to hopefully extend the lives of other women that this cancer may impact in the future.
